Gebhard Scherrer, COO of Datum presented at Beyond Blocks 2018

Datum was happy and honored to speak at Beyond Blocks Tokyo 2018, which took place at The Westin Tokyo on the 4th and 5th of April.

With over 25 speakers and over 1,000 attendees from 30+ countries, the discussions at the event encompassed regulation, cross-chain collaboration, education, decentralized exchanges, the role of traditional funding, and various new blockchain business applications.

Gebhard Scherrer, Chief Operations Officer at Datum, shared our recent achievements and presented development plans concerning Datum’s near future to an audience consisting of investors, developers, and data privacy enthusiasts. Since the launch of the beta version of the Datum App, US$100,000 worth of data transactions have successfully taken place on the Datum Marketplace. Datum is also fostering partnerships with various data buyers and data owners from a wide range of industries and identities. The Datum App and the Datum Network’s development has been going forward in full swing, with four updated releases so far; both the App and the Network are steadily marching towards the official launch later this year.

With a viable product and an active team in place, Datum is in talks with various new friends met over at Beyond Blocks Tokyo 2018 to foster potential partnerships, including wallets, exchanges, media, and other blockchain related businesses, thus spreading Datum’s vision and belief in a transparent data marketplace that protects your data privacy, respects your free will to share your own data, and allows you to monetize your data.

Our highlights from Beyond Blocks Tokyo 2018:

  • If the buzz word in blockchain in 2017 was “ICO,” the “in” word for 2018 will be: REGULATION, and just like what Datum did by abiding to strict KYC requirements during our Token Sale in 2017, only companies that start self-regulating will contribute to a healthy overall environment in blockchain.
  • Collaborative trend: Cross-chain collaboration and tools to facilitate such collaborations were all the rage at the conference.
  • A general trend observed in many applications across the board was: You own your content! This is a concept proposed by many companies that Datum spoke to, and we could not be more excited about the potential partnerships.
  • Venture capital is also stepping into the blockchain world with more creative ways to provide solutions that benefit both investors and companies.
  • Gaming and blockchain: with Japan being one of the heavyweight players in the worldwide gaming arena, it was only natural to see blockchain-based gaming applications eminently present at the conference.

Beyond Blocks Tokyo 2018 was definitely an amazing and exciting experience, and we look forward to participating more in the future!

Last but definitely not least, one of the most important reasons for Datum’s participation in Beyond Blocks Tokyo 2018 was to be able to say a big THANK YOU to our Japanese supporters in person with a proper 90 degree bow: Thank you for your unwavering support of Datum’s vision!

どうもありがとうございました!Datumのビジョンの揺るぎないサポートに感謝します!
