Greetings Datum Community!

It’s been a busy few months for Datum as we prepare for the mainnet launch later this year. We’ve updated our development roadmap, released our storage node container and made it possible to run nodes on our testnet, squashed a ton of bugs, and introduced some new extensions including the revamped Datum ID mobile app.

Several members of our team will also be at Ethereum Devcon next week in Prague. We’re looking forward to meeting members of our community and mixing with DApp developers — if you see us around, say hi!

Announcements

Mainnet Release Candidate 1.0 Launch

On September 3rd, we rolled out Datum Mainnet RC 1.0, delivering on the vision outlined in our whitepaper and establishing a solid foundation for the decentralized storage layer of our ecosystem.

Testnet Storage Nodes Activated!

More than 200 prospective operators pre-registered to run a Datum storage node on our testnet, where we’re working to identify bugs and refine storage node economics. If you’re interested in running a node, please read the staking and rewards guide and make sure to pre-register. You can also refer to our Storage Node Tokenomics Spreadsheet for more details.

If you’ve already registered, you can get started with our alpha version using Docker.

Datum + Animoca

We’ve teamed up with Animoca Brands, the exclusive APAC partner of Cryptokitties. Animoca is a leading global developer and publisher of mobile games and other apps for smartphone and tablet devices. We’re looking forward to working together to drive blockchain adoption through gaming!

More New Partnerships

Another eight companies have announced that they will work with Datum by adding support for our SDK or other co-marketing projects.

We often get asked by community members how they can help accelerate our progress. Right now, the best way you can help is to participate in our storage node testing program.

We’re targeting hundreds of nodes in dozens of regions, both to shake down the technology and to solidify our major platform partnerships. Give the Testnet a try and run your Datum Storage node today!

If you need help getting started, the team is available on Gitter to answer any questions. Participants will even be rewarded once storage nodes on Mainnet launch later this year!

iOS App Store Status

We’ve been working with Apple’s App Store team to gain approval in the App store since August, and we’re happy to say that we’re almost ready to launch. Apple is a global leader in their approach to consumer data privacy, and we believe that Datum’s self-sovereign identity and decentralized privacy-focused cloud data store will be an important part of the future of that ecosystem.

Datum — along with Microsoft and Hitachi Vantara — sponsored the Smart Living Challenge as part of the Smart City Hackathon Hong Kong 2018. Read more about the Smart Living Challenge here.

Devcon 4

As part of our participation in next week’s Devcon, the new Datum ID app will include a fun extra for attendees: a DApp designed to help you find the best bars in Prague!
