With the launch of the Datum Mainnet our product and engineering teams are now focusing on improvements to user experience, developer experience and core functionality. Our roadmap is split into thematic releases unlocking a variety of use cases through an incremental approach.

Released Sept 1 — “Adaman”

  • Launch of Mainnet aka Datum Blockchain: DAT token can be used to store data through the Datum Blockchain
  • Launch of the Datum SDK for Mainnet: The Datum SDK allows developers to use the Datum Network as data store, supported on Javascript, React Native and other popular frameworks
  • Datum Block Explorer for Mainnet: Custom built block explorer supports decoding of storage transactions
  • Launch of DAT Plasma Contract to enable Ethereum to Datum Blockchain transfers: Cross-chain bridge for DAT token to enable transfers between Ethereum Mainnet and Datum Mainnet
  • Fueling Server and Transaction Broker Service for developers: Enabling developers to fuel transactions for their users as well as bulk transaction processing
  • Testing of Storage Nodes operated on Testnet: Beta program for storage node operators on the Datum Testnet

“Baltic” Release

  • Launch of Storage Nodes operated on Mainnet: Allow storage node operators to provide services on the Datum Mainnet
  • Node to node replication of data with support for geographical restrictions: Allows developers to enforce geographical storage node location
  • DApp interface to simplify cross-chain transfer of DAT: Allows user to easily transfer DAT between Ethereum Mainnet and Datum Mainnet through the browser using Metamask
  • Data Trading protocol and example marketplace DApp: Example implementation of a custom data marketplace built using the Datum data trading protocol for use by developers to build their own marketplaces

“Aegean” Release

  • Datum DID and multiple device support: Datum Identity represented according to the W3C DID(Decentralized Identifiers) standard. Allows users to authorize multiple devices, with unique private keys for each device, to control their Datum Identity.
  • Namespaces for individual DApps and private key names for data storage: Namespaces allow setting of DApp specific policies such as DApp specific private keys for DApp users and encrypted key names can be hidden from public
  • Optimized Proof of Storage: Increased frequency of storage challenges through node to node checks
  • Transfer Fee Pricing: Storage Nodes can earn transfer fees when data is accessed as opposed to just storage fees

“Banda” Release

  • Dynamic Storage Pricing: Allow storage nodes to compete for storage of data by setting their own pricing
  • Quality of Service scoring for Storage Nodes: Include quality of service scoring into storage node selection algorithm. Improves node service such as lower latency and longer uptime to be preferred over others.
  • DPOS consensus for Datum Sidechain: Replace Proof of Authority on Datum Blockchain with a Delegated Proof of Stake consensus
